Committed to Anti-Racist Practise

Chrysalis Fostering Manager, Director & founding member of The Independent Fostering Agencies Anti-Racist Forum is committed to the development and implementation of strategies and best-practice that dismantles racism and ethnic oppression that is present in all areas of society.

As an agency we will purposefully strive to identify, discuss and challenge racism in all its forms: structural, systemic, institutional &  interpersonal and the impact they have on our staff members, foster carers and children and young people.

The Independent Fostering Agencies Anti-Racist Forum is a branch of the Yorkshire and Humber Independent Fostering Providers (IFP) Forum. It came into creation in response initially to the murder of George Floyd and the rise of the Black Lives Matter Movement which highlighted the vulnerabilities and inequality inherent for some members within our society.

The forum went on to develop an anti-racist action plan for IFPs in the region to incorporate into their own organisations. To date they have developed a plan which has been shared with IFPs nationally and now meet quarterly to further develop anti-racist practice and our journey to authentic allyship.
